AEC Meeting in Paris – June 2025: Advancing Global Energy Dialogue
As part of its ongoing efforts to strengthen regional and international partnerships, the Arab Energy Club (AEC) concluded a productive series of engagements in Paris in June 2025.
The Club convened in Paris, France, on June 18 for its biannual meeting, chaired by AEC President Dr. Carole Nakhle. The meeting was held in coordination with the International Energy Forum (IEF), which was holding its Industry Advisory Committee meeting in the French capital to which AEC members were invited to attend. The IEF kindly offered a space at the same venue for use by the AEC.
The theme of the AEC’s June meeting was: “Navigating a Shifting Energy Landscape,” and was divided into two sessions.
The agenda featured several insightful sessions on critical energy topics, including:
Session 1: The Oil and Gas Sector in the Era of Innovation and Transition. Delegates heard from representatives of international and national energy organizations and the service industry on how the Arab oil and gas producers are responding to the profound transformation underway in the global energy system. The discussion also explored the role of renewables and the hybrid energy model as well as the role of hydrogen and other low-carbon fuels in the transition.
Session 2: Energy Security ad Sustainability in the MENA Region
The session explored the evolving interplay between energy security and sustainability in the MENA region, where countries are confronting the dual imperative of maintaining stable energy supplies while advancing ambitious decarbonization goals. Speakers covered a wide range of topics, including the evolving definition of energy security and the impact of geopolitical and trade uncertainty on policy decisions.
Each session was followed by an interactive Q&A discussion between members and speakers.
Established in 2007, the Arab Energy Club fosters dialogue and collaboration among energy experts in Arab countries, aiming to advance the sector’s contribution to economic and social development. The Club also addresses global energy trends, including renewables, and their implications for the Arab region, while raising awareness of the intersection between energy, environment, and development.
This meeting is part of the Club’s annual activities to showcase the expertise of its members and advance its mission as a forum for dialog and the exchange of ideas on the latest developments in the Arab energy sphere.
