AEC Annual Meeting in Morocco, 2017

The AEC’s 2017 annual meeting took place in Rabat, Morocco, between the 3rd and 5th of November.

The club’s meeting featured three sessions addressing critical energy market issues. The first session analysed current trends in oil and gas markets, including supply and demand dynamics, investment constraints, and outlooks, with a focus on implications for both Arab exporting countries and importers like Morocco. The second session highlighted renewable energy development, showcasing country experiences from the Middle East and North Africa region, particularly focusing on success factors in renewable energy deployment. Lastly, the third session delved into global energy transitions, exploring scenarios of significant change such as increased renewable energy penetration, shifts in transportation, and advancements in battery storage technology, with discussions on how these changes could impact energy prices, volatility, and the energy mix of the Arab world, influencing exports, investments, market shares, and energy strategies.

The AEC was also proud to announce the publication of a 670-page book in Arabic on “Oil’s legacy and its twenty first century challenges” by its co-founding member, Dr. Majid al Moneef. The book is published by the Beirut & Casablanca based “Arab Cultural Center”.
